Each time a new version of CorelDRAW is released, add-on developers have to make a decision whether to update their add-ons to the new version and how quickly to make it available. One of the more popular add-ons, Design Base, is now available for CorelDRAW X8.
Before you run out to get Design Base, there is one very clear requirement. You must have a “full” version of CorelDRAW and not the “academic” or “home and student” version. Like all add-ons, it does require the VBA macro language that only comes with the full version (this does include upgrades). If you don’t have VBA, it just won’t work.
There are two versions of Design Base available and you do NOT need both. For users who still have CorelDRAW X3 or X4, you’ll want Design Base 1.5.8. Users of CorelDRAW X5-X8 will want Design Base Pro. Both products are free. To truly get the most from Design Base, you’ll want to purchase one or more artwork packs and/or an activation code to unlock additional features.
If you aren’t sure of the many things Design Base can do, make sure to visit the product page and watch movies showing off the features.
