Sublimation and CorelDRAW

July 21, 2006

One of the things I really like about CorelDRAW is that it can be used to create so many different things. Many of the most exciting products involve sublimation.

First, let’s talk very briefly about sublimation. Sublimation generally involve a fairly standard Epson ink jet printer. Rather than using the standard inks used for printing on paper, those inks are replaces with special sublimation inks. The artwork is printed on special transfer paper. The printed design is laid on some type of product. That could be a shirt, a mousepad or even a toilet seat. Heat is applied. This turns the ink into a gas that permeates the product making a permanent dye on the product.

I’ve only scratched the surface of sublimation. Sure, I could give you a longer description. I’d rather leave it to the experts to do that. So let me introduce you to John Barker and Project Sublimation. Project Sublimation produces a number of seminars across the US and beyond to help users understand sublimation and to give them the tools needed to build a sublimation business. I attended their presentation in Phoenix a couple of months ago and it was a lot of fun in addition to being educational.

If you are looking for business ideas that involve CorelDRAW, you definitely want to give sublimation a look. It is also a great idea to expand an existing business using CorelDRAW. Heck, it is even an affordable hobby that can create some really cool items. Check out Project Sublimation and tell John I said hello if you go to one of his workshops.
