Follow-Up on DMOZ

October 12, 2006

I’d like to say that DMOZ has had a huge change of heart and realized that their so-called rules are unfair to CorelDRAW sites. It may be months before we really know if they change their tune.

I told you that I had been working with Eric Ward on promoting unleash.com. Eric is already an editor at DMOZ and even he was shocked at the answers I was given when my application was declined. He even wrote on his blog that DMOZ could soon be irrelevant. I hope not. I hope they realize that they can be a great resource. I understand that not everyone has what it takes to be an editor. Heck, I’m happy to have someone else do it as it will take some time.

At least one reader has applied to be an editor and others have told me that they have submitted sites. This should stop others from applying to be an editor. Given the odd rules, they may continue to decline applications. And everyone should submit their favorite CorelDRAW Web sites so that we can populate the directory with a lot of great resources.
