Not a day goes by where I don’t have to deal with zip files. I’m often working with them constantly each day. Yes, there is native support for the basics built in to Windows, but is that enough for your needs?
I can’t remember when I first starting using WinZip. It was many years ago. Many of you probably don’t realize that Corel purchased the company, WinZip, a couple of years ago.
Corel just released a new version and you’ll definitely want to check out all that it offers. It is available as both a “standard” and “pro” version. Some of the features that I like aren’t new. The ability to convert a ZIP file into a self-extracting EXE file is very high on my list. I also like being able to compress files smaller than when using the Windows-based functionality.
New features in both versions are the ability to compress JPG photos by an additional 20-25%, support for additional file formats and even smaller file sizes using the LZMA compression type. The Pro version adds even more. Visit the WinZip home page where you can download a trial version, purchase a new version or purchase an upgrade.
