I’m always amazed that the average computer user doesn’t really know much about how Windows works. Hopefully most of you are the exception to that rule. I’m a big fan of making a few minor changes to the way things work on the taskbar (the thing at the bottom of the screen) and my Start Menu.
Right-click on the Taskbar and select Properties to get a dialog box with a number of options. I like to Auto-Hide my taskbar. That way it only displays when my cursor is at the bottom of the screen. For my Start Menu, I prefer the “Classic” view. This specific option isn’t listed in Windows 7, though you can click on the Customize icon to get things working a bit more like they did in the past.
While in the Properties dialog box, check out the various options and see if anything in there would make your Windows experience more pleasurable. I bet you can all find one or two things to improve things.
