I’ve told you about some useful plug-ins in recent weeks. Loyal readers have asked me to tell them about even more. So today I’ll dip my toes back in the world of Photoshop plug-in filters and tell you about 3D Sphere Generator from Richard Rosenman. As the name implies, it will allow you to create a shaded sphere that can be modified with a number of options. This version is available for free and works in most every image editor that supports Photoshop plug-ins. I use it successfully in Corel PHOTO-PAINT.
After playing with this filter, you may wish that it could do even more. The author does have a commercial version called 3D Sphere Pro that sells for $29.99. It has a lot more controls and can create some amazing spheres based on the samples in the documentation.
Note: This post is quite old and the product described no longer exists. The closest replacement from the author is Spherical Mapping Corrector.
