It seems like every electronic device you buy these days comes with a remote control. I don’t know about your coffee table but there was a time that I had 4-5 different remotes sitting there that I used on a fairly regular basis. There were probably another 2 or 3 that I kept elsewhere because they weren’t used as often. While I have my fair share of electronic things, I think I’m pretty average.
When I got a universal remote, it was great to have just a single remote that could do almost anything. While I really love the universal remote I have, I would get something different if I were to get another one today and it would be one of the Logitech Harmony Universal Remote Controls. There are really two models I would consider. The most popular unit is the Logitech Harmony One Universal Remote with Color Touch Screen that sells for around $165. Even though the Logitech Harmony 1100 Universal Remote with Color Touch Screen is rather large, I think I would really like it. It is priced around $282.
With either of these, you set up exactly what devices you want on your computer and then transfer the data to the Logitech Harmony remote. Most devices are already in the product database so it is simply a matter of selecting the devices you have. It takes a little bit of time to set it up the first time, but it is definitely worth it in the long run.
