A Follow Up On My Laptop Saga

August 18, 2010

Last week I told you of the horrible experience I had buying a laptop. I thought I should follow up with you about what has transpired since that post.

I never heard from the original laptop manufacturer (Dell, for those who asked). So I called to ask if they were indeed sending a new wireless card and they showed no record of one being ordered. That made my decision very easy. I returned the laptop to CostCo and got a full refund. Sorry Dell, you blew it!

After I had returned that laptop, I needed to find a replacement. This time I ordered one from HP. It hasn’t been shipped yet so I can’t say whether it will work or not. And for those who have asked, they will not ship it without the operating system and other software. That was especially frustrating since the HP also included some Corel software that I already own. When I called to voice my concern, they offered me $50 off. It wasn’t much, but it was better than nothing.
