Blu-Ray Drive for Dream Computer 2011

January 5, 2011

I’ve already select an SSD/Hybrid drive, a mechanical hard drive and a DVD drive for Dream Computer 2011. There is one more drive we might want to add and that is a Blu-Ray drive. As of this writing, the biggest reason I have for a Blu-Ray drive is to watch movies. Yes, you can also burn your own Blu-Ray discs that hold much more data than a DVD. Unfortunately the blank discs are still priced too high to make this a reasonable choice. As time passes, Blu-Ray will become more valuable. The good news is that prices of the drives have come down quite a bit. If you want to add one, I’d go with the Plextor B940SA drive which sells for under $150 and offers incredibly fast speeds for a Blu-Ray drive.
