There used to be a really cool filter in Corel PHOTO-PAINT called Terrazzo. It would use different types of quilting patterns to create symmetrical tiling patterns from a bitmap. I don’t know why Corel stopped including it though I’m guessing the licensing for it ran out. The company that made Terrazzo released a second version more than ten years ago. Unfortunately Xaos Tools is no longer around and neither is the Terrazzo filter.
Enough of the bad news as there is another option that can do cool symmetrical patterns with vector graphics. Alexander Penkin’s Symmetrical 2 offers 16 different kinds of patterns and numerous other options. Once a pattern has been created, you can easily move/modify objects around and all of the symmetrical objects will move/modify in the same way. For anyone who loves patterns, you’ll love this macro!
