OCZ Vertex 3 SSD Drive

June 1, 2011

I’m often asked for tips on how to make a computer go faster. The list can be quite lengthy, but one way is to have the fastest parts in your computer. It could be a new CPU, video card or even more RAM. But one of the best ways to get more speed is to use the fastest hard drive available. If you want speed, you need to get an SSD drive and there is a new crop of drives that goes even faster.

The components that make up the drive are part of the speed, but the connection to your computer is also important. So to get the most out of the drive, you’ll need a 6 GB SATA connection. Even if you have a 3 GB SATA connection, you will get amazing performance. You get won’t get the maximum speed possible. Speed also comes with a price. the OCZ Vertex 3 240 GB drive sells for around $600. Half the size is about half the price. You’ll find the OCZ Vertex 3 120 GB drive for under $300.

If money is no object, you can use several of these drives in your system. To get the best bang for your buck, put the operating system on the SSD drive and get a traditional hard drive for your software and data.
