When there is a new version of CorelDRAW, I’m always asked a number of “did they fix that?” or “does this work?” questions. When you look at the new feature list, often there are many things that are overlooked.
One of the questions I’ve been asked is whether the CorelDRAW Brush Packs work in CorelDRAW X6. Part of this confusion was because the “X6” hadn’t been added on the product pages. They definitely worked, it was just a matter of updating the pages.
Not only do they work, they work a lot better in CorelDRAW X6. Many of the brushes are fairly complex. When you take a complex object and stretch it along a path, it can take some time for it to render properly. There were even some brushes (yet to be released) that were just too complex to use in the older versions of CorelDRAW. One of the hidden new features of CorelDRAW X6 is the much faster rendering speed when using complex brushes.
Those of you not already familiar with the CorelDRAW Brush Packs may want to look over the product page as it is full of free video tutorials showing exactly how to use these brushes to boost your creativity. There are also free sample brushes you can download to give them a try. Once you’ve tried them out, I think you may want to add at least one of the packs to your toolbox. There are free PDF catalogs showing you each of the included brushes.
good news! a question offered in a meek manner to the o most gracious guru. With the 64 bit switch, do macro (ex: ones purchased from MacroMonster) still work? or do they need to be tweaked? or in my case: hire a wizard to change them..heh peace, -john
It really depends on the individual macro. Some will work, some will need to be tweaked. If the macro has low-level calls to the operating system, those definitely need to be updated.
