No matter how many times I say it, having too many fonts installed is a problem. Every single time I talk about this subject, I will have a user who claims their situation is unique and they must have way too many fonts installed. I have yet to find a single user who ever needed too many fonts installed. I wrote about this in Managing Your Fonts Can Speed Up CorelDRAW. Please don’t tell me how your system is different. It really isn’t and you really need to get the number of installed fonts to 400 or less.
Another related problem is corrupt fonts. Even a single corrupt font can easily make your software misbehave and could be the cause of severe crashing. One tool I talk about in CorelDRAW X5 Unleashed Advanced Topics is FontFrenzy. Yes, every user should get a copy of CorelDRAW X5 Unleashed Advanced Topics for this and many other valuable nuggets of information. FontFrenzy can be downloaded for free and can help you keep your fonts under control and will even install some stubborn fonts installed by other software. It doesn’t have a bunch of features (see screenshot below) so you can figure it all out rather quickly. While it doesn’t have a lot of features, the features it does include can really help you keep your fonts under control.
