Some users have reported issues running CorelDRAW. When they attempt to run it, they receive an error saying “Unable to load Coreldrw.dll (and Corelppt.dll): Error 998” or something very similar to that. This is a classic case of something else being installed on your system that is interfering with CorelDRAW. Most users reporting this issue have found they have malware by the name of “searchqu” installed on their systems. If you have it, you probably didn’t intentionally install it. It can be supplied with other shareware or freeware software that you may have installed. Simply removing seachqu should allow CorelDRAW to run successfully again.
A blog post entitled How to Remove Seachqu (Uninstall Guide) provides detailed instructions for removing it from Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.
1/31/2013 Update: Others have reported finding “search results toolbar APN LLC” installed on their computers which also causes the 998 error. Simply uninstall it and the error should be gone.

Unstalled Searchqu and it now works fine. This is something that will kill Corel…
Dan, so it is Corel’s fault that users have malware installed on their computers? We find that users will go to great extents to get things for free and unfortunately that often leads to installing stuff that comes with malware such as searchqu.

Most likely you have some other spammy toolbar (like searchqu) installed that is conflicting. Now is as good a time to uninstall all of that extra junk and hopefully it will solve the problem.
