In the past few days I’ve been doing a lot of research on the new OpenType features included in CorelDRAW X6. With these features, you can substitute alternate characters for selected text as shown at right and much more. In order to show off each of the features, it is important to find fonts that include the necessary extra characters.
I first told you about the list of fonts included with CorelDRAW X6 back in May. You may want to re-read that post for more information. What I didn’t realize at the time is that the tool I used to make the list didn’t include any “OTF” files in the list. Considering those are the fonts that include larger character sets that show off the new features, it was a bad omission. I have since updated the list to include the 40 included fonts in OpenType format and they are listed first. For those who really want to see the new features in action, you’ll want to install the American Captain and the Zapfino fonts.
Now it is time for me to dig in and do some more research so I can have all of this stuff explained in detail in my CorelDRAW X6 Unleashed book.
