Sometimes you just don’t realize how useful a utility can be until you have to go without it. That happened to me recently. Typically I do most real work on my desktop and therefore it contains a lot more software than my laptop. In getting ready for a trip, I was moving files to the laptop and realized it didn’t have TeraCopy installed.
Last December I introduced you to Teracopy and it has clearly become one of my must-have utilities. It is free for non-commercial use and licenses for commercial use are very reasonably priced. It works with Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and even the upcoming Windows 8.
When installed, it takes over the file transfer operations on your computer. When you are copying files, you should find it to be much faster than the built-in Windows copy function. You are also giving the option to pause and resume transfers that take a bit longer. Heck, it even has error recovery functions should there be copy errors. This is definitely a utility that should find a home on your computer!

Alas, it’s not freeware.
