Back in the old days, content was published on paper. Many of us came up in the industry learning the proper ways to create and format content for output on paper. Maybe it was a flyer or a magazine or even a book. In many ways the techniques were the same.
Thanks to PDF and Flash files, ebooks and tablets; the world of publishing has changed drastically. Content creators now need to learn new workflows for these new methods of publishing and it can be painful. The authors of Digital Publishing with Adobe InDesign CS6 have felt that pain in their own projects and they wrote this book to help the rest of us succeed in our projects.
I was a die-hard user of Ventura Publisher for nearly 20 years. I still think it is an absolutely amazing program and it runs rings around the competition in many ways. Yet Corel’s refusal to update Ventura pushed me to Adobe InDesign because it was actively developed with new output methods in mind.
As I transitioned from Ventura Publisher to Adobe InDesign, I had to learn how a new program worked as well as the techniques needed to get the multimedia output I desired. When I saw this book, I ordered a copy immediately and I’m in the process of reading it now. If you are going to be creating content for the new output methods or re-purposely material from print; you’ll definitely want to get a copy of Digital Publishing with Adobe InDesign CS6.
