Let’s get a couple of things out of the way up front. Some of you will want to remind me there is a calculator app on the computer. Yes, I’m aware of it and do use it occasionally. Others may tell me there is a calculator app on their phones. Yes, I’m aware of that too. If either of those truly work for you, great. I prefer a good old fashioned calculator in my hand!
I remember as a kid that even a basic electronic calculator wasn’t cheap. Then in college I had to get a fancy scientific calculator and it definitely wasn’t cheap. Yet what I’m talking about today is just a very basic calculator that lets us add, subtract, multiply and divide. I use the one on my desk several times a day.
The good news is that the cost of such a basic calculator is about the same as a fancy cup of coffee. The AmazonBasics calculator pictured costs less than $6! It is solar powered, but also includes a battery for those times where isn’t enough light to power it. There is nothing fancy about it, it just does the basic calculations we all need to do daily.
I use something even more basic, pencil and paper, and it does everything I need.
I am not a numbers person…I always knew that they would invent cheap calculators just for me. I have a plug in calculator on my desk and a bunch of solar ones all over the place. When I need one there is alwasy one close by so I don’t have to hunt for one.
