As I look outside our office window, I can see the mercury climbing ever higher on the thermometer. I’m sure it will hit at least 105 today (that’s over 40 celsius). So while the calendar says it isn’t officially summer yet, the weather outside is screaming summer. Or would that be sizzling summer?
That got me to thinking about the image that most represents summer. I’m sure the definition varies for each of us. The folks at National Geographic have a wide variety of photos on their Summer Landscape Pictures page.
I decided to look through my pictures to find the image that made me feel like summer. Being near water is something that makes me think of summer. It could be a pool, a lake or the ocean. While the picture I selected (at right) doesn’t have water in it, it was taken very near the ocean. While I didn’t have to select a picture taken in the summer, I selected one taken in August. Summer also means heat and you are often looking for a way to quench your thirst. That’s why I chose this photo of a lemonade stand.
Now who knows where it was shot? Post a comment with your guess. Or simply post a comment telling us about the image that says summer to you.
