In the last week, we’ve posted pictures of quite the menagerie of animals on the Graphics Unleashed Facebook page. There were also a couple of themed pictures for a geek holiday and another cause for celebration. Each of the pictures is presented here as an embedded Facebook post. If you are reading this post in e-mail, you’ll need to read the post on the Web to see the embedded pictures.
We’ll start out by going to a day in the distant past as a much younger version of myself is playing with my pet collie. I’m convinced there must have been some sort of punishment involved to get me into a suit and bow tie.
Our office is in the desert and that means we get a lot of critters outside our window. That includes a family of chuckwalla lizards who tend to pay us a visit during this time of year. We captured a nice picture of Mrs. Chuckwalla (the coloring gives her away) and we’re guessing that she will soon have a bunch of little chuckwallas.
Another animal that is quite common is the Gambel’s quail. They are easy to identify thanks to their unique topknot. We noticed a male and female spending a lot of time near a planter and it was because they were proud parents. So here is a picture of just a few of their offspring.
In the world of geeks, May 4 is a very special day. It is known as Star Wars Day because “May the Fourth Be With You” sounds almost the same as “May the Force Be With You”. We posted a photo to commemorate the day.
Then there is the much misunderstood Cinco de Mayo. On May 5, 1852, Mexico defeated France in the Battle of Puebla leading to the day that is now quite festive. It is not Mexican Independence Day as that is Grito de Dolores and that happened on September 16, 1810. Tequila often is part of the festivities and we post a colorful photo of a bunch of tequila shots.
