I’ve spent some time this week working with a company that does apparel design. One of their desires was the ability to fill shapes with unique patterns. As they described what they wanted, I immediately thought of using seamless bitmap patterns. I use these seamless textures myself on a regular basis.
In this case I was working with a client using CorelDRAW, but seamless textures are a type of fill that works with every flavor of graphic design software. The exact method for using these fills varies, but the results are very similar.
The reason I know seamless textures so well is that we offer more than 1700 of them in our Textures Unleashed collections. Each of the collections is available in two flavors, the DVD-based versions include four different resolutions of textures for users who need incredible detail while the Lite collections contain only the 256×256 pixels textures. Keep in mind that with the seamless tiling you are able to fill any size up to insanely large dimensions. Therefore they are useful for use on the Web or massive designs like vehicle wraps and billboards.
If you want the best deal, there are bundles of the DVDs at discounts and even a “megacollection” of the Lite packages that has 1239 textures on a single disc. This gives you a wide variety of textures to use in your designs.
More collections are in the works as there are an infinite variety of fills. Look over the free tutorials we’ve provided, download the free PDF catalogs and purchase collections to add some awesome fills to your designs. Once you start putting these textures to use, you’ll wonder how your designs survived without them!
