For someone who writes as much as me, having the right keyboard is very important. Of course each of us is different and there are different things we prefer in our perfect keyboard. I really have become dependent on an ergonomic keyboard and thus the Microsoft Natural Ergo Keyboard 4000 is still the perfect choice for me. At Amazon’s current price of $24.99, it is hard to beat. Heck, it is so low I’m tempted to buy an extra one just in case mine fails in the future.
But today I want to talk about another keyboard that may appeal to some of you, the Razer BlackWidow Chroma Mechanical Gaming Keyboard. It has a much higher cost as it currently sells for $169.95 at Amazon though it is certainly worthwhile if it provides the typing experience you desire.
Look at the photo and you’ll see a glow of color around the keys. Each of the keys on the keyboard has a backlight and you can define the exact color around each key individually. Even for a touch typist, having color to help guide your fingers to the right key could be really helpful.
The keys also use mechanical switches which they promote for gaming performance but you’ll also find this provides a lot more durability and may be the tactile feedback you prefer. In short, you don’t have to be a gamer to benefit from the keyboard. If you are a gamer, you might just find it easier to perform keyboard-related game functions.
All in all, this is a very solid keyboard that should at least be considered by anyone needing a new keyboard that is just right.
Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 is one of the companies best ever keyboards but….the software that accompanies the product does not work under Windows 8.1 on my computer and others who own the product. The “favorite keys” do not function and Microsoft has no answer for why!
I just don’t install the software. Similarly, I don’t install special mouse software.
