Are You Guilty of Using Common Words Incorrectly?

January 6, 2015

I’m a writer so one of my biggest pet peeves is when people use common words incorrectly. This probably seems to get worse with text messages and posts on social media. Often the offenders are quick to blame “autocorrect” and it might actually be at fault some of the time. More often it is as simple as someone not understanding the exact meaning of what they are writing/typing.

I’ve put together a graphic with some of the words used incorrectly. Save it. Share it. Print it out. Do whatever it takes to make sure you and those you know are using these words correctly. I’ve embedded the Facebook graphic below so it is easy for you to share with your friends. For those reading this post via e-mail, read this post on the Web to see the embedded graphic.

I e-mailed that the embedded graphic doesn’t show. I forgot to mention that this happens on my browser of choice – Firefox. It works fine on Explorer, but this does effect a lot of people.

I personally use Firefox and the embedded graphic is displaying just fine for me as I type this. Could you have something installed in Firefox that blocks embedded Facebook content?

Thanks for expressing my thoughts about the misuse of these words.
My opinion is that people don’t know the difference. And when I
know the people who do this have an education I can’t control my outrage.
Anyway, glad someone agrees with me.

Anonymous, glad to hear I’m not the only one that cringes every time someone uses these words incorrectly.
