Does anyone ever have enough USB ports? Last week I suggested you Fill Your Front Bay With Memory Card Reader and USB Ports. It is a very elegant solution, but may be more of a project than you want to tackle or maybe it just won’t work for you. An alternative is to get a USB hub that adds a number of ports in a small box.
At right is a 7 port USB 2.0 hub from AmazonBasics that is currently selling for $18.99. It may look like it only has five ports, but there are two more on the other side. If you are adding more and more USB 3.0 devices, you can get a 7 port USB 3.0 hub from AmazonBasics currently selling for $34.99. Amazon also offers variations with either 4 ports or 10 ports for both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0. Just follow the previous links and you’ll see the option to choose the variations on the same page.
If you have a travel bag, a 4 port USB hub would be a great accessory to throw in your bag. On your desktop, you’ll probably want to get either the 7 or 10 port versions so you have plenty of ports when you need them.
