A little over a year ago, I got the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet as described in the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition Android Tablet post. In the electronics world, a lot can change in a year’s time. Strangely Samsung has not released an updated version of the “Note” tablet. They have released a new tablet with many improvements, it just doesn’t include the stylus. While I use my tablet regularly, I don’t use the stylus. So having a more powerful tablet without a stylus isn’t a problem for me.
Keep in mind that I’m happy with my current tablet so I probably won’t consider an upgrade for at least a couple more years. If you have an older tablet or have yet to get into a large tablet, this might be the choice for you.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 has a 10.5″ screen. Even compared with the larger smartphones, the extra size makes a huge difference. Packed into that screen are 2560 x 1600 pixels. In short, the screen looks great and provides a lot of detail.
While it only includes 16 GB of storage, you can easily add up to 128 GB more with a microSD card. A card of that size can hold plenty of content!
There are cameras both on the front and back of the tablet. It seems a bit silly to me to take photos with the tablet due to the larger size. But the front camera is very useful for doing a video chat. I also use the RingCentral app on my tablet so I can place/receive calls on my “home” phone from anywhere in the world!
Another way that I love to use my tablet is to read Kindle content. It is a very pleasant reading experience on the big, high-resolution screen. Looking for an all-in-one remote control? The WatchON app allows you to control a variety of devices from the tablet. I’ve only scratched the surface of all you can do with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 so check it out and see if it is the right tablet for you!
