I told you a month ago that many of you can Claim Your Free Upgrade to Windows 10. The release in now less than 10 days away so it is time for all of us to start preparing.
While the upgrade will be available soon, I advise you to wait until at least a month after it is released before you attempt to upgrade. In case there are any serious problems, let others find them first. Based on all the feedback I’ve heard so far on the pre-release versions, it should be a very smooth upgrade process. Waiting the extra month will just give you a little extra peace of mind.
In the meantime, take an inventory of your hardware and software. Check and make sure the hardware will have a driver for Windows 10. Also see if the software will run just fine in Windows 10. If the hardware and software work in Windows 7 or 8, there is a very good chance it will work just fine in Windows 10. But it doesn’t hurt to check before you perform the upgrade.
We’ll definitely be upgrading all of the computers in our office, but we will wait for a month or maybe even two before we make the move. Better to be safe than sorry.
