A few days ago I was talking to a loyal reader who wanted to know if it was possible to use the popular Alien Skin Eye Candy plug-in filters in the 64-bit versions of Corel PHOTO-PAINT. Absolutely, thought it will take a little bit of extra work as I documented in Photoshop Plug-Ins and Corel PHOTO-PAINT Compatibility. Of course a better answer for most users is to install the 32-bit versions of the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite as the 64-bit version provides no extra benefit. Below are three posts that explain this in more detail.

I’ve also had an interesting tech support problem while working on a Web site for a client. The text in the Facebook box is displaying in Vietnamese as shown at right.
When I noticed this, I contacted the support team for the Voga theme used for the site. Their first answer was that I had entered the wrong code for the Facebook box. Even though I assured them I hadn’t, they still felt it was my fault.
So I dug around in the files supplied with the theme and found the file containing the bug causing Facebook items to display in Vietnamese. I passed the name of the file on to the theme developer and they still felt I had done something wrong.
My last message to them told them the exact line number where the bug was located as well as the code on that line so they could see it for themselves. Finally they agreed it needed to be fixed and have vowed it will be corrected in an update in the near future.
I know that users often make mistakes and I’ve certainly made my fair share. But it was very frustrating that I had to work so hard to show them the bug before they agreed it was their bug to fix.
