Google Makes Nik Collection of Photoshop Plugins Free

March 26, 2016

Back in September 2012, Google purchased Nik software. The thinking was that the purchase was for the Snapseed app that Nik had developed. But many of us knew Nik for the awesome Photoshop plug-ins they had developed. Each of those plug-ins delivered high-end results and came with a big price tag as each plug-in was $149 or more.

There was an announcement in March 2013 that you could get all of the Nik plug-ins for only $149. Fast forward three years and Google has made another announcement about the Nik plug-ins (the Google+ post is embedded below). They are now FREE!

What exactly are the Nik plugins and what do they do? The screenshot below lists each of them with a brief description.

They are Photoshop plugins so obviously they work in Adobe Photoshop. I’m sure some of you are wondering if they work in Corel PHOTO-PAINT. I installed them and used them successfully in Corel PHOTO-PAINT X5. While I’ve not tested them in any other version, I’m confident they will work in newer versions and you can’t go wrong at this price!
