Nearly every home has a wireless router these days. It is how we connect our devices to the Internet. What we all desire is a fast connection and range that covers a large area. While many newer routers claim insane speeds, very few people have an Internet connection that can take advantage of those speeds. Of course a lower cost is always a good thing.

I was looking for a new router for a house that simply needs a reliable connection with as much range as possible at a reasonable cost. My search led to the TP-LINK Archer C7 pictured below. You’ll note the endorsement by the New York Times and I also found it to be a top choice of others who rate hardware products.

A stumbling point for many router users is getting the router configured. TP-LINK has a mobile app that you can install on your phone or tablet to simplify the setup process. Some of the really simple routers seem nice to me, but they only have a single port on the back for connecting wired devices. TP-LINK provides four Gigabit Ethernet ports as well as two USB ports as you can see below.

It is very clear that the TP-LINK Archer C7 has three large external antennae, but it also has three internal antennae. This is one reason why it has a strong signal range. If you really need a wider range, it is also sold in a bundle with a WiFi range extender.
