I remember back to when I got my first USB device, it seemed like a couple of USB ports on a computer were plenty. Now I’m not so sure there are ever enough ports. USB has also gone through various versions with each new one providing additional speed. Today I’ve found a device that has seven USB ports with two more ports dedicated to charging devices.
You connect this 9-port hub to a single USB 3.0 port on your computer and then you can connect up to seven other USB 3.0 devices. Yes, it is backwards compatible if you have older USB devices. So that all ports are fully powered, you also need to connect it to AC power with the included power brick.
It is quite possible you already have a USB hub that is a few years old. Now maybe the time to upgrade to a newer hub that supports the faster speeds and more ports.
