Recently I’ve covered both a powerful motherboard and a really speedy CPU. In between I wrote about a big, fast SSD drive. Today we’ll load up the computer with some fast DRAM modules. Yes, there will be Amazon links from which I can earn a tiny commission. No, I didn’t get anything for free. Thank you FTC for forcing me to include that disclaimer in every post.
When buying RAM, you have to choose something that matches the motherboard. Balance that with speed, cost and the size of each module to find the best choice. The motherboard has four slots for RAM and so I’ve selected 8 GB modules meaning the computer can have as much as 32 GB of RAM installed. I went with the Corsair Dominator Platinum Series DDR4 DRAM rated at 3000 MHz (shown below).
I’ve linked to a 2-pack of the modules meaning it gives you 16 GB of RAM. Note that they have to be installed in pairs so you can’t just install a single module. For those who want the full 32 GB, you’ll want to order two packages giving your four modules. Every time I look at RAM, the prices per gigabyte have gotten even better. So if you are going to build a new computer, I can’t give you a good reason not to fill it with 32 GB of RAM.
