A month ago I wrote about needing a USB hub and an Ethernet adapter for my laptop. I had ordered those products and they both worked great when I tested them. Unfortunately the Ethernet adapter would not work when it came time for my presentation. I tried hard to get some support to determine if the device was faulty or if it was my fault. Unfortunately it never came and I returned the Ethernet adapter. I did keep the USB hub as it worked fine.
But I still needed an Ethernet adapter should I need a wired connection at some point in the future. As I went searching, I found an Ethernet adapter and USB 3.0 hub all in one device!
I waited until after I had received this new adapter and used it a few days before I wrote this post. Just to make sure all was well, I completely turned off the WiFi on the laptop and have used only the wired Ethernet for the last three days. In addition, I plugged in USB devices. Everything worked flawlessly!
One advantage to this device is that all functions are in a single device. It does not provide a separate power plug so there is a slim possibility there wouldn’t be enough power for all three USB ports and the Ethernet adapter. I don’t expect that will be an issue for me as I’d be surprised if I used even two of the USB ports at any given time.
