Watch reviews, eero 7, crypto scam, migraines, Dragonsweeper, humanoid robots, iPhone 16E, Honda Nissan merger off, Sealand and killer asteroid. Based on some of the misinformation being shared lately, I’ve been looking back on my days in high school. It was the earliest days of anything computer-related in schools and I took a COBOL programming class. It was very rigid in the way it handled data. Fast forward to late 1999 and there were fears of various computer meltdowns and almost all of them were related to systems based on COBOL. Many years later and there are still systems running on this now dinosaur of a programming language. Another issue deals with a mysterious date. For example, I have worked with products that have a “lifetime” span. There is no such date you can enter to represent this so you pick an exact date far in the future. Should that date become nearer, you’ll have to mass change that date in the system to another date in the future. Keep all these things in mind when you hear news about something and did a little deeper before believing what you might hear. There has been a lot of news in the tech world this week and you can catch up with all the headlines below.
