Corel VideoStudio Crash after Windows 7 Update

“Microsoft’s latest security update for Windows 7 in Feb 2016 caused serious issues with VideoStudio X8 and VideoStudio X7. We have released updates for VideoStudio X8 and VideoStudio X7 which will resolve the issues caused by this Windows 7 update.”

“If you’ve installed Microsoft’s Windows 7 security update, then unpatched copies of VideoStudio X8 or lower will not open. So please go here and install the patch:”

Curiously, the updates are NOT found here like you’d think (at time of this post).

updates are here instead (specifically version7, but 8 is nearby).

For those of us who have older versions of VideoStudio, we waited with bated breath to see how Corel would handle this situation. Either they’d force us to upgrade to version 9, or be nice to the users by making a hotfix. I’m happy to say they did the latter. This builds enormous goodwill and long-term loyalty. Thanks Corel! It IS noticed!

I was (and remain) quite impressed with the overall feature set of VideoStudio There are a few little quirks about it, but overall it’s a fantastic value, especially the Ultimate version.
