I’ve written a few posts recently about getting the sound just right. Today we’re going to see if we can improve the lighting. I’ll include an Amazon link which pays me a tiny commission if you order and I’ve not gotten anything for free.

Above you’ll see all the parts included in the Neewer 18-inch SMD LED Ring Light Dimmable Lighting Kit. We’ll start with the ring light itself. The inner diameter is 14 inches and the outer is 18 inches. Within the ring are 240 individual lights that are fully dimmable. There are also white and orange color filters that allow you to soften the light source and/or to change the color temperature.

Getting the light in the right position is equally important and so the kit includes a stand. Height can be adjusted from 36 inches to 78 inches in height. A phone holder is also included that you can mount inside the ring in either horizontal or vertical position. If you are using a DSLR, you have the ability to also mount it within the ring. Personally I’d rather use a separate tripod for the camera to have more stability.

Whether you just want a better-lit Zoom meeting or you are recording some videos, this lighting kit is a great way to get the scene just right!
