If you have a product to sell, you need a great photo of that product to use in your promotion. These days, it is usually much easier to generate the product shot using software. I’ve been using a product called True BoxShot for several years and have been very happy with the results. While there are three variations on the product, I’m specifically discussing the standalone product named True BoxShot.
You start by selecting the type of product you are creating. That includes books, software boxes, discs, screen shots, credit cards and even some other objects. Next, you import the 2D artwork (in a bitmap format) for each side of the box, the face of the disc, etc. You can rotate the product most any way you like and make other modifications until you have the exact view you like. The last step is to render the 3D view including shadows and reflections. This whole process can be completed in five minutes or less if you already have the 2D artwork completed.
Download a trial version and give it a try yourself. If you have a need to create these 3D “boxshots”, I think you’ll really like it. I’ve certainly loved the results I’ve gotten. Next week I’m going to look at another program that has similar functionality. It costs a bit more, but also offers more product types. Give True BoxShot a try this week so you can see if it is the right product for you.
