Some users have reported a recent problem when launching CorelDRAW X5 and Corel PHOTO-PAINT X5. It will bring up the error code of 0xC0000005. It seems the problem is caused by the Avast Anti-Virus software installed on those machines. From what I’ve read, similar problems happen with other software.
One solution given is to uninstall the Avast software from your machine. Obviously that could open your machine to problems if it is not protected against viruses. Some users have reported that uninstalling Avast and re-installing the latest version solved the problem. For them, it seemed the problem was caused by an Avast update. Another solution would be to switch to different anti-virus software.
If you use Avast anti-virus, just keep your eyes open for this error. I use ZoneAlarm for my security needs so I have not seen the issue myself and can’t confirm what solutions might work for you.
using Kaspersky Internet Security for a while, no conflict with CorelDraw X5
I’d say Avast! is my top choice but if it’s really not cutting for you try AVG or a Trend Micro product.
