Getting Started With WordPress

January 12, 2017

On February 7, 2017 I’ll be teaching a class where I build a live WordPress Web site as part of the 2017 International Awards & Personalization Expo. I’ll admit it is a bit scary to build a site live, in front of a group of people. Why? Because it relies heavily on a working Internet connection in the ballroom of a hotel.

While doing it live scares me a bit, I’m sure many of you who need to create a site are far more scared in building a site in whatever manner you do it. To provide everyone with details on the process, I’ve written a couple of magazine articles with background information. The first of those articles, Getting Started With WordPress, has been published.

You can either download the article as a PDF or read the article as part of the entire magazine on the APA Web site. I hope to see some of you in my class next month!

    Foster,

A solution for your qualms about an internet connection while presenting —

Use a local server on your own laptop or have the organizers sort out one on the laptop they are providing for your presentation.

WAMP is stable and very good. The five second WordPress install does work.

I have done it with my own development of wordpress sites.

    Regards,

    Stilman
