Back when I was a teenager, my home suffered a break-in while the family was on vacation. I’ve been lucky since then and my life has been crime-free. While one can never been completely safe, I don’t have a lot of concern in my current home. An easy way to help stay safe is with a security camera and we’re going to look at a new one in today’s post. I’ll be providing an Amazon link that does earn me a few pennies if you buy one. Unfortunately no free cameras have come my way.
The company Blink first crossed my screen when they were going to release a video doorbell. Then the company, as well as Ring, were purchased by Amazon. Just a couple of months before their video doorbell was due to be released, it was cancelled. This was really disappointing, but Blink did continue to make a line of security cameras. Now they are released a new model of camera.
Each of the Blink XT2 Smart Security Cameras can be used either indoors or outdoors. It used to be that installing a security camera was complex as it required electricity and a cable for the video. That’s no longer the case as the cameras can run on 2 AA batteries for two years. All video content is transmitted via WiFi. No wires are needed and a ball mount is provided to mount the camera wherever you desire.
A feature added by Blink in the new cameras are two-way audio. This allows you to talk to someone near the camera. Cameras are monitored via the Blink app on your phone or tablet. Motion sensors capture video when motion is detected. Those clips are stored in the cloud for up to a year at no charge. Live video can also be viewed, though it is not recorded. Worried that you won’t see anything in the dark? It includes HD night vision so you can capture video day or night.
Loyal readers know I am a huge fan of Alexa and these cameras can be integrated with Alexa to arm or disarm them as well as viewing video clips on select devices. If you are looking for an easy and inexpensive way to add video security to your home or small business, this is a system you’ll want to seriously consider.
