I’m always looking for a way to connect and interact with more devices. When new versions of USB arrive, it’s likely time to find a way to connect more of the new flavor of USB. Today we’ll look at a good option for that. Our look includes Amazon links that earn us a few pennies while giving you the best available price. We didn’t receive anything else for writing this.
Right now, USB 3.0 is the latest mainstream version and it delivers far more speed than USB 2.0. Note in the graphic below the speed goes from 480 Mbps to 5120 Mbps. If you have a lot of data to transfer to an external hard drive or a flash drive, you’ll want that speed!
One of the more frustrating parts about USB is that the “USB-A” connector hasn’t changed. Of course it is that same form factor that makes it easy to use on any device with a USB port. If it isn’t USB 3.0, it just means you get slower speeds. One cool feature of the ikuai 7 Port Aluminum USB 3.0 Data Hub Splitter is that each port has its own on/off button. The device can be powered by the USB bus or you can plug it in. Keep in mind that if you rely on the bus to power it, charging cables are going to be really slow to deliver juice.
If you need to get more ports for your PC or Mac, consider this hub splitter as it gives you 7 more ports! Even if that seems like too many now, you’ll likely find uses for more than you think.
