When you are putting together a computer, getting the right RAM and enough of it is very important. Today we’re going to look into the future crystal ball a bit for some great RAM. It is highly unlikely it will work in your current computer. But it will be perfect for something in the very near future. Yes, there will be an Amazon link if you’re ready to order and I’ll earn a tiny amount if you use it. No, I didn’t get any memory for this.
It is rare for a motherboard to support DDR5 memory today. Most recent motherboards use DDR4 memory. But DDR5 is the technology of the future and we’re about to see more of it. Intel’s Z690 chipset allows use of either DDR4 or DDR5 RAM so that opens the door to using the new faster flavor of RAM.
I could talk about a more entry-level DDR5 kit, but let’s go for the best and then G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5 6000 Dual Channel Desktop Memory. This kit includes two 16 GB sticks for a total of 32 GB running at up to 6000 MHz. Is this faster than you may need? Quite likely. But there is only a small savings if you go for a slower version.
Very soon I’ll write more about motherboards supporting DDR5 and processors to get the most of the speed in these chips. For a brief while, we can only dream of that speed.
