Seagate IronWolf Pro NAS Internal Hard Drives

Seagate IronWolf Pro 16TB NAS Internal Hard Drive

It’s been almost a year since disaster struck and our backup plan had a catastrophic failure. Our data has recovered, but the corporate wallet still feels a lot lighter.

Seagate IronWolf Pro 16TB NAS Internal Hard DriveAs part of our recovered, we knew we had to replace at least two of the hard drives in our NAS (Network Attached Storage) box. The least expensive solution would be to replace only those two. We decided to invest in ten new drives and to purchase drives with twice as much storage space.

Our choice was to buy 4 TB drives to replace all ten of the 2 TB drives. We don’t plan to replace them anytime soon, if ever, but there are some very interesting new options available in the Seagate IronWolf Pro line of NAS drives. They are available in sizes from 1 TB up to a massive 16 TB.

  • IronWolf internal hard drives are the ideal solution for up to 24-bay, multi-user NAS server environments that demand powerhouse performance
  • Specifically built for less wear and tear, little to no noise/vibration, no lags or down time, increased file-sharing performance, lower power consumption, and extra data protection—even in the event of power loss
  • Easily monitor NAS drive health using the integrated IronWolf Health Management system, and enjoy long-term reliability with 1.2M hours MTBF
  • Five-year limited warranty and two-year Rescue Data Recovery Services included.Support for S.M.A.R.T. drive monitoring and reporting

If you buy the version of the drive with “Data Recovery”, you get a warranty for data recovery for 2 years. According to Seagate, this is what you get: “Covering user error, data corruption, fire and flood damage, IronWolf Pro drives come with an included 2-year data recovery service.” That certainly would have saved me a ton of money if I had these drives in my NAS when disaster hit. One some of the sizes, the “Data Recovery” version has a higher cost. On others, it actually costs less.

Should you need to get an array of drives for a NAS box, you should at least consider the Seagate IronWolf Pro drives!
