If you want the fastest drive for your computer, this is not it. Compared to other mechanical drives, they are reasonably fast. The latest standard of SATA is used to theoretically allow for a speed up to 6 GB/s. Platters spin at 5400 RPM which is not as fast as other mechanical drives. Included is a 256 MB cache that allows the drives to have fastest performance than those without cache or a smaller cache.

All drives are subject to failure and you should have some form of backup to protect against that failure. Seagate Barracuda Compute drives have a 2 year warranty and are designed to be durable enough for a very long life. Best of all, even the drives with the highest capacity are affordable. If you need to increase your storage capacity or it is simply time to replace a hard drive, you’ll find these to be a good choice.
