Each day we create more and more data that needs to be stored. If it isn’t stored safely, you can lose a lot of time and money. Today we’ll look at a hard drive that can resolve both of these issues without breaking the bank. Yes, there will be an Amazon link that earns me a small commission if you use it to buy something.
The first time I ever saw a hard drive for a personal computer, it was 5 MB in size. No, that is not a typo. Almost all of us have hundreds if not thousands of files bigger than that today. Currently the data drive in my computer is 2 TB in size and it is probably around 70% full. It still has some life left, but I do need to consider getting a bigger drive at some point in the future. There are much larger drives available, but I selected 4 TB as an appropriate size for many users.
This led me to the Seagate IronWolf 4TB NAS Internal Hard Drive HDD. It meets the size requirement and is currently just over $100 so the price is right. Are there faster drives available? Yes, but this one still has good speed for a reasonably priced data drive. You’ll also note it is for “NAS” drives or Network Attached Storage. Sure, you can use it for that but it also giving you an extra level of durability even for a single drive situation.
For those who want a smaller or larger drive, there are many more available in the IronWolf family. Below are a few links.
