Each year technology marches on and we get newer and faster components for our computers. Today we’re going to discuss the latest iteration of Intel’s top processor and the power it brings. I’ll include links to purchase it from Amazon and I do receive a very small commission if you use my link. No, I didn’t get anything else for writing this.
You’ll find an increase in the cores, threads and speeds in the Intel Core i9-13900K Desktop Processor 24 cores over last year’s top Intel chip. There are eight performance (P) cores running at 3.0 GHz. That’s the same number and a slightly lower base speed over the Intel Core i9-12900K Desktop Processor 16 (8P+8E) Cores. Each of the P cores can be hyperthreaded giving you 16 threads. There are also 16 Efficient (E) cores which doubles the previous iteration. These run at a base speed of 2.2 GHz which is also a slight decrease. But twice as many gives you eight more threads. In total it supports up to 32 threads!
The max frequency on each core is 5.8 GHz which is a big increase over the 3.9 GHz in last year’s top chip. Plus the chip is unlocked so you can likely overclock it to even greater speeds if you have a good cooling solution. A 36 MB Smart Cache (L3) and a 32 MB L2 cache are also included which is a nice increase.
There is also an onboard Intel UHD Graphics 770 so you do not need to buy a discrete GPU. For many users, the included graphics may be all you need. If you are looking to build a new computer, this is an awesome chip and would make for a fast start!
