Build ROMCat Catalog From All CorelDRAW Files On Your System

October 1, 2013

Just a few days ago someone asked about getting a ROMCat catalog that included the clipart contained in multiple versions of CorelDRAW. There are multiple ways to accomplish this task and I’m afraid there are many users who fail to take advantage of all the features contained in ROMCat.

Yes, we provide pre-built ROMCat catalogs for all versions of CorelDRAW from v5-X6. Yet it seems that very few users realize how easy it is to built your own catalogs from CorelDRAW clipart, one of the many Clipart Unleashed collections, the CorelDRAW Unleashed Bonus Content Packs DVDs or even the artwork you have created. We provide written instructions for building your own catalog on the ROMCat product page and also in the Building New Catalog Files of CorelDRAW Clip Art video on YouTube (embedded below if you are reading this page on the Web).

Update ROMCat CatalogThe only limitation of building your own catalogs is that Corel did not include keywords in the clipart files provided in CorelDRAW 11-X3 and therefore ROMCat can’t build catalogs from those files as there are no keywords to catalog.

Another option for building a giant catalog of all CorelDRAW files on your system is to select File | Update This Catalog with any other catalog already open. This will give you the dialog box at right with a number of different options. The second choice, Merge, allows you to merge the data from any other catalog into the current catalog. This gives you a way to merge the catalogs for the clipart supplied with CorelDRAW 11-X3 into the giant catalog of the rest of your artwork.

If you take a few minutes to explore ROMCat, you’ll find that it includes a lot more features than you may have realized. Combine this with the advice provided in Can You Find Files From Ten Years Ago? and you should have no trouble finding your artwork files in the future.

I am currently using ROMCAT 6.3 and would like to update to the latest version. What changes have been made to the latest version of ROMCAT?
