Soon after the release of CorelDRAW X6 and Corel PHOTO-PAINT X6, I explained there were some limitations to the “Photoshop plug-in” filters that would work in Corel PHOTO-PAINT. The situation was even worse for those who chose to install the 64-bit version as it would only allow you to use 64-bit plug-ins of which there were very few.
I also highlighted one plug-in that would work, though you would have to jump through some serious hoops to get it installed. Even when Alien Skin released version 7 of Eye Candy, it still was missing a necessary file needed for usage in Corel PHOTO-PAINT X6-64. If you also own a recent version of Photoshop, you’ll have the file you need to get it working. Otherwise you may just be out of luck. Once you get past the installation problems, I’ve found it works great. Unfortunately it was pretty lonely on my machine as the only 64-bit plug-in I had installed.
That changed yesterday when I got copies of the latest releases of all of the AutoFX plug-ins. I will be writing reviews of each of the new plug-ins in the near future. What I can tell you is that they all install and work just fine. Now when I go to my Effects menu, I have more plug-in choices than I had in the past as you can see from the graphic above. I’m really excited at the new options available to me and I can’t wait to get started on those reviews so I can share more about what the various AutoFX plug-ins can add to your design arsenal.
For those of you using a 32-bit version of Corel PHOTO-PAINT or Adobe Photoshop, all of the AutoFX plug-ins are also available in 32-bit versions. This means that all users now have more creative plug-ins available to them!
