There are times we get suggestions from you, our loyal readers, and we are very frustrated that it just isn’t feasible to follow up on those suggestions. There were two suggestions related to our Textures Unleashed collections that we weren’t able to implement…until now!
We have offered two different collections of seamless textures. The “Lite” collection has always been downloadable and includes all textures as 256×256 pixel PNG files. Each collection is around 15-20MB so downloads weren’t a big deal. The “Pro” collection has always been offered on DVD with four resolutions of each texture with the highest being 2048×2048 pixels. Because the files were so large, it just wasn’t feasible to download. All of the Pro collections are now downloads with the largest being 1.7GB in size!
Users wanted the instant gratification of getting the textures as quickly as possible and they can now be downloaded as soon as the purchase process is completed (as close to instantaneously as possible). Instead of the discounted bundles we offered, users also wanted the ability to build their own bundles and get the discount.
That is also now possible. Order five or more Pro collections and you’ll automatically get 30% off of your order! Of course you’ll also save the cost of shipping since everything is a download. Another side benefit is this shortens our development time so we’ll be able to add collections more often. Overall there will be more available textures for you to get as quickly as possible.
