Expand and Turbo Charge Your Storage With XPG Gammix S70

Expand and Turbo Charge Your Storage With XPG Gammix S70
May 4, 2022

One computer component I write about often is storage. We all need it and our needs grow over time. It is also important we can quickly access that storage. Today I’ll explore the latest SSD drive that gives you a lot of room and speed for a very reasonable price. There will be a link to purchase it at Amazon and I do receive a small pittance if you use that link. While I would love to receive a drive to call my very own, none has been provided or requested.

XPG GAMMIX S70 2TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4

SSDs (solid state drives) started out as something you’d connect just like a traditional hard drive. Unfortunately the latest and greatest SATA connections limit the speed of those drives. As they got increasingly smaller, the next step was the mount them directly on the motherboard via the NVMe connector. The latest iteration is the PCIe 4 and it gives you the ability to hit the highest speeds. The XPG GAMMIX S70 2TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 is compatible with PCIe 3 connections, but you won’t get the highest speeds.

You want speed? It is rated to read at 7,400 MB/s and write at 6,800 MB/s. You won’t find much faster than that right now. The drive I’ve linked above has 2 TB of storage space and a five year warranty. That gives you plenty of fast storage! If you want to save a little and only get 1 TB of space, go for the XPG GAMMIX S70 1TB.

All that speed can also bring more heat. Most motherboards include some sort of heat sink to help cool SSD drives. XPG has their own proprietary heat spreader to increase the surface area for cooling and airflow. The result is up to thirty percent more reduction in temperatures.

Overall, this is the best choice today for adding an SSD drive. So if you are needing one or it’s time to replace one, go for the XPG GAMMIX S70!
