TP-Link AC1900 Smart Wireless Router

March 6, 2019

TP-Link AC1900 Smart Wireless RouterIt’s been a few years since I’ve needed to purchase a new router. When I last purchased one, I wrote Best Router for Most People – TP-LINK Archer C7. That router is still serving me quite well, but it has been replaced. Today we’ll talk about its successor. Should you buy something with the links provided to Amazon, I do earn a small commission. No, I didn’t get a free router.

I really like my Archer C7. The price was right. It offers really good coverage where the previous router failed. There are removable antennas which allowed me to install bigger ones. Overall, I’ve gotten three great years of service from it and I expect it will serve me for at least a couple more years. But I often ask myself what I would purchase should the need arise and that’s what led me to the newer version with updated features, the TP-Link AC1900 Smart Wireless Router (Archer C9).

Archer C9 WiFi RouterLet’s start with the basic reason I selected the Archer C9. It is basically the newer version of the C7 which I really liked. While there are more featured-packed routers, you’ll find this has the features you need at a more reasonable price. Just like the C7, it has detachable antennas should you want to replace them. Signals are broadcast in dual 2.4 and 5 GHz bands and beamforming is included to get stronger and faster signals. What all this means is you get good coverage that moves the data pretty darned fast. Of course your speeds could be dependent on the Internet into your home or business.

Most routers try to provide a setup routine that works for even novices. I prefer to get into the router to work to get the settings just right. While it may look a bit technical at first, I find the TP-Link interface very easy to understand. They even have an app for your phone or tablet that can help you with setup. Unless you really need the power of the high-end routers, this is a great router for most users.
